Julius Dommer

Biography

Julius Dommer is a documentary filmmaker and film editor whose work focuses on socio-political observations. Born in Ratzeburg, Schleswig-Holstein, he studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (2012–2018), with a focus on artistic documentary directing and cinematography. In 2015–2016, he was a scholarship holder at the International Film and Television School EICTV in Cuba (Documentary Film Department).

His films have been screened at numerous national and international festivals and have received multiple awards. His graduation film Ascona won, among others, the award for Best Short Film at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, was selected for AG Kurzfilm and Next Generation Short Tiger film programs, and screened at over 60 festivals (including Oberhausen, EMAF, FEST, Clermont-Ferrand, and PÖFF).
